I was treated with extraction orthodontics from 1995-1999 in Hawaii from ages 13 to 17 years old. 4 bicuspids were removed. I distinctly remember the orthodontists pulling my upper and lower backwards during the course of the treatment. In 2002, I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed which I believe further contributed to the development of sleep apnea. My sleep apnea symptoms began soon after the orthodontic treatment began but I just didn't realize it at the time. It wasn't until the symptoms gradually worsened over the years when I was finally diagnosed with sleep apnea in 2010. Never would have thought I would have sleep apnea as I was a competitive distance runner so was way under the average weight for my height.

Extraction orthodontics retracts the incisors bodily very little. off any. It does reduce their forward flare, which is important to do if a patient’s complaint is procumbent ("buck) teeth.
Extraction of wisdom teeth doesn’t do a thing to inhibit mandibular growth and is a non-issue.
When what you “believe” and scientific fact collide, it is what you believe that must be altered.
Many people with perfect size and alignment of the maxilla and mandible have sleep apnea. Being overweight is a big cause.
